April Business Spotlight: Julia Goldstein
By: Julia Goldstein ~
Julia Goldstein started her career in as an engineer in semiconductor packaging, where she found herself being the team member writing the reports and articles. An engineer who likes to write is somewhat unusual, and she migrated to journalism, writing and editing for trade journals.
Since 2011 Julia has been the owner of Julia L F Goldstein Communications. As a freelance commercial writer, she creates clear and concise content with a technical marketing slant. She specializes in writing and editing white papers, case studies, articles, and blogs. Julia is also a contributing writer for 425 Business and Seattle Business magazines. Her passion is sustainable materials.
When Julia isn’t writing, she’s often out enjoying this beautiful area. She loves running year-round, bicycling when it isn’t too wet, and looks forward to summer when the lakes get warm enough for swimming. Julia completed two sprint triathlons last year and is upping her distance this year with the Eastside Tri in July.
She is also a lifelong musician, ever since starting piano lessons at age 7. Before moving to Redmond in 2014, she played flute and piccolo in the Nova Vista Symphony (Sunnyvale, CA) for fifteen years. She’s still waiting for a flute position to open up in a local orchestra, but meanwhile enjoys playing chamber music.
Fun fact: Julia has been gradually moving north her whole life. Born in San Diego, she graduated from Harvey Mudd College (east of LA). When she moved to the Bay Area for graduate school at Stanford she told herself, “At this rate, I’ll end up in Seattle.”
